MEETING NO.: 28

The following are the minutes of the SIAP Board of Directors:

Boards of directors for the years 2001 and 2002 were present. The following items were discussed:

28.1 Selection of Shahram Shokoufandeh or Kamal Ramezani as Board Member

·         Bijan to verify each candidate’s availability for serving as the board member

28.2 Year 2001 Overall Plans and Results

·         Had more successful monthly events and with greater variety- due to regular advertisements and person to person notices-
·         Norouz party was more profitable than previous years
·         Had increase in number of people receiving SIAP’s emails
·         Did not meet goal of increasing number of members to 100, did not lose any members, either.
·         Out of forty members, a small number- mostly board members- were active or took part in the monthly events

      ·         In order to attract architectural students to SIAP, need to expand on field trips and to visit works of famous architects
·         Proposed items to general assembly, to be rewritten and proposed again
·         Elevate the Iranian community’s knowledge of the issues related to architecture and construction
·         SIAP’s strongest point of attraction, the monthly events, to be more versatile and even include music
·         More effort to be put in attracting new members, every member to bring along a new member
·         Unless there’s more benefit or direct profit to the members, people would not get involved in SIAP’s activities
·         Benefits could be knowledge, business opportunities, professional socializing, etc.
·         Interested members to develop joint ventures in order to handle bigger jobs together
·         Increase frequency of board/committees’ meetings to sustain more activity
·         Discussion/special interest groups to be developed

28.3 Each Director to Run & Manage A Committee

·         The current four committees to be sustained, new adjustments to be made based on future needs
·         The following is the list of directors and their committees for the year 2002:

1.       Membership: Gharavi and Moayeri
2.       Events: Gharavi and Armandpour
3.       Publication and Web site: Azarnoush and Falamaki
4.       Education: Shokoufandeh

28.4 Election of Treasurer and Secretary:

·         To be discussed in the next meeting

Next meeting on Thursday December 4^th at 7:00 PM. Location to be announced later.

SIAP has reserved first, third, and fourth Thursday of each month at MGM location.
