The Following are the Minutes of the SIAP Board of Directors Meeting on 4/12/01

The following specific items were discussed:

• More successful than previous years in the number of guests and profit
• Set up was not appropriate for the type of music

• Majority believed that the band was not appropriate for the occasion/guests, although attracted its own group of guests
• Lack of preparation time and resources limited the attention paid to the announcements
• Confusion in the starting time caused delay of check-in, subsequently lack of patience and time for the announcements
• Split opinion on the quality of food, reduction in the quality of the food in comparison to the previous years was greater than the reduction in the cost
• Split opinion on lack of open bar; it should be announced with the invitations, if decided to continue
• Substantial number of announcements were returned, mailing list to be updated
• More time and advance planning is certainly required for next year

19.2 The Purpose of Norouz Parties
Variety of opinions:

• A cultural event

• Purely having fun at a yearly gathering

• Fundraising for a variety of purposes, i.e. inviting qualified speakers

• Celebrating the new year

• Attempting to match the quality of the parties with the "dominant" guests’ taste
• Advancement of SIAP through presenting and evaluating its role, activities and goals to the audience while carrying the Society’s signature

• Iraj suggested Parviz Kalantari to talk about the relationship between art and architecture on April 26^th
• Bijan, Vaghei, Shahram and Naraghi from the Events Committee to prepare flyers
• Iraj to give ads to both Radio and TV
• Use non-profit status for radio ads

2. Minimal entry fee for more successful events
3. Financial report of the Norouz party
4. Committees and their reactivation
5. Reorganization of the membership committee
6. Membership package
7. The Italian exhibition (from last year’s agenda)
