7.1 SIAP News letter; PAYEH
Iraj as the chief editor will publish Payeh, the second issue, before end of
January 2001 in a newsletter formats.
Selling advertising for Payeh 2nd issue was discussed in the meeting and Mr. Esfandiary & Vaghei will follow up ($300 full page and $50 BC size ad- members will pay $25. Full color back page ad will be $700.)
8.4 METRO Field Trip
It was suggested to add Los Angeles Downtown field trip to Metro Trip. Mr.
Moayery will contact his lead: Mr. Aziz Kohan at LA Metro.
11.1 Up-coming events and SIAP calendar

13.1 Media Advertising to reach out to related
Professionals (closed)
Board decided to advertise on TV and Radio regarding SIAP.ORG site and ask
Architects, Planners, engineers, etc to contact SIAP.org and send their e-mails
and eventually become new members.
13.2 Media Advertising Budget
Board allocated $300 to spend on Media advertising till the end of Jan 2001
for introducing SIAP.ORG and reporting Election 2001 held Jan 25, 2001.
13.3 Architectural Exhibition: 2001 in Rome, Italy
Mohammad Borghei reported that he represented SIAP in his visit to IRAN and
contacted authorities in Iran including Parviz Kalantari, head of the society of
consulting Architects & Planners who supported the idea and directed him to
Iranian highest authority in Art. He is scheduled to be in Toronto, Canada
shortly and also visit San Francisco on first week of this December. Therefore,
Board asked Mr. Borghei to stay in touch with him for further coordination and
possibly arrange a meeting between him and the board.
In Iran, Mr. Borghei continued reporting, SIAP volunteered coordinating the exhibition activities among the Iranian Architects who reside outside of Iran. SIAP will arrange for their work to be presented in the Exhibition. Tentatively, board decided on participation of 20 Architects.
Board decided to promote an Architectural symposium in conjunction with the Exhibition and inform Architects in a timely manner to submit their papers.
13.4 Iranian architectural magazines subscription &
advertising
Mr. Borghei presented one copy of Iranian Architecture magazine called
" Me-mor". He reported 16,000 Tooman for yearly subscription. Board
decided to subscribe for 10 issues and M. Falamaki will go to Iran and purchase
the subscription.
14.1 Monthly meeting:
Board decided that SIAP be prepared in the meeting; in a more professional
fashion by taking the following actions:
14.3 Business Networking Meeting:
Competition among the SIAP members raised some concerns. Mohammad Moayery
suggested not worrying about this for now since parties in the same category did
not yet show interest. In addition, Architects are practicing in different
fields. General discussion and other ideas were presented but no decision was
reached due to time. Mohammad Moayery will follow and keep board updated of
further development. Mr. Moayery will follow up if this networking would be
applicable and useful to our organization.
15.1 Election Committee (closed)
In the absence of an election committee, Board discussed / decided on the
following items:
15.1.1. Iraj to talk to the potential candidates and ask them to be prepared for the election. (Closed)
15.1.2. Format of the election was discussed. Mohammad Vaghei to prepare the ballot. Iraj coordinate with Mohammad Moayery to send the ballot to the qualifying members. Mohammad Moayery was assigned to be MC to conduct the election meeting on Jan. 25, 2001. (Closed)
15.1.3 Iraj to contact the mailing list and invite them to candidate themselves to SIAP board election. (Closed)
15.1.4 Year 2001 Election
Prior to the formal meeting, SIAP president verified that number of votes
present by person & proxy are more than 50%. Therefore, Mohammad Moayery as
MC opened the meeting by addressing the general assembly and announcing that the
meeting has the quorum and election can be officially conducted.
Mohammad Gharavi asked for a report by the Board for the year 2000. Mohammad Moayery briefly summarized his report as: 1) a very active Board of Directions and a few members, 2) very inactive Committees, except Education Committee, and 3) drop in the number of members and their interest in SIAP business compared to last year. He suggested stronger committees for the coming year specially Membership Committee. Other board members added: notable progress in Website, regular communications between SIAP & members through email, and regular monthly meetings were made.
Houshang Borghei and Mehran Ghaffari were elected as Election Inspectors. Ballots were examined by the inspectors and 30 valid ballots that represent a very high, or more than 80% participation, were verified.
First, election for Vice President / President Elect were conducted. Bijan Armandpour with 12 votes was elected. Mohammad Borghei was the only serious competitor who got 9 votes.
Election for 4 board members (two as substitute) continued. Result was as follows:
1-Mohammad Borghei, 22 votes.20Zhila Yadidsion, 20 votes.
3rd & 4th David Hedvat and Mohammad Gharavi, 17 votes each.
5- Shahram shokoufandeh, 14 votes
6- Hashem Mojjarab, 13 votes.
7th & 8th – Amir Daghigh and Mohammad Naraghi, 9 votes each.
Therefore, SIAP Board members for 2001 were announced as follows: (Subject to valid membership by the next board meeting)
15.2 Membership fees.
Membership checks were collected from following 12
members: Sh. Shokoufandeh, R. Shokoufandeh, K. Ramazani, M. Moayery, D. Safai,
G. Daneshvar, I. Yamin-Esfandiari, S. Haghighi, N. Akbarpour, H. mojarrab, H.
Borghei, M. Ghaffari. In addition, Iraj deposited the checks for Shahab Ghods,
Foad Rafii, and Pirooz Khanloo to SIAP account. Mohammad Borghei gave his check
to Majid Falamaki. Total of 16 paid members at this time.
Following 7 members promised to mail their fees next
day.

16.1 No meeting due to the holidays Season (Closed)
Board will start its regular business after the New Year holidays.
16.2 Emergency board meeting: (Closed)
If necessary, board will held an emergency meeting two weeks prior to the
election date to discuss this matter.

17.2 Internal Board Election
Board to elect its secretary in the next meeting. Iraj to inform the absent
board member, Zhila Yedidsion, to be present in the next meeting.
