  Bam: Killer Earthquake

Bam, an ancient city with more than 2000 years of history destroys in less than a minute.  On Friday December 26th, 2003, 5:28 am, a 6.3 Richter scale earthquake shook Bam and killed more than 30,000 people in sleep.

Bam, a city with 90,000 population in Kerman province, is situated in 1000 kilometer south of Tehran.  The historical citadel of Bam, Arg-e-Bam, the greatest mud brick structure of the world which contains various architectural buildings, like fortress wall, towers and gates, Bazaar, mosque, caravanserais, big houses, residential tissue, castle with different parts like stable, barracks, houses, alcove, etc., with a history of more than 2500 years (Achaemenian period) and various periods of accommodation during history until previous century (Ghajar period), destroyed less than a minute.

SIAP and its members are deeply sorry for Bam and its people and they will do their best to support them as much as they can.
