The following are the minutes of the SIAP Board of Director’s meeting:

Present:

Agenda:
1- Norouz Party, Detail
2- Radio Program and Architectural Forum
3- An Event at LA Music Center

The following items were discussed:

1. Norouz Party:

Mohammad Gharavi gave a rundown of the negotiated price of $58 per person which covers: appetizer, main course, full premium bar, and wine on each table.

It was decided to charge $70 per person to cover the costs and keep the guest number under 200.

 Mohammad also discussed the decision of the Events committee in regards to presenting members’ work at the party. It was decided to display the work of any member who submits his or her work. The submitted work shall be on a 20"x20" ¼" foam board. Members can display as many boards as they wish, with consideration for space for all entries.

The decision to show the work of the members through video is still under study.

2. Radio Program and Architectural forum:

Mohammad Reza, member of the Public Relations committee, reported that two one-hour time slots have been negotiated with 670-AM Radio. The first program will air on Saturday, April 26, at 2.00 pm. The second program is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at 4.00 pm.

Mohammad Reza will contact Hejazi to explore the possibilities of promoting SIAP’s programs in advance.

It was suggested that 30 minutes of the program be taped in advance.

The topics to be discussed in the program were explored. The following topics were suggested:

SIAP introduction, the goals and programs of SIAP.

What is architectural practice: The role of an architect in the construction industry.

What is the relationship of an architect with other construction trades.

What are the benefits of working with an architect.

Promotion of architectural competition through SIAP for developers.

Public Relations committee shall refine these topics further and recommend members to participate in the programs for Board approval. The committee shall also determine a possible program host and discuss the overall scenario of the program with him/her.

3. An Event in LA Music Center:

Mohammad Gharavi suggested attending a Los Angeles Philharmonic performance as a SIAP group activity. In addition to receiving a group discount, SIAP will be entitled to attend one of the programs at Disney Concert Hall in the first year of its opening.

Other group activities were also suggested such as an evening at the Getty and or The Hollywood Bowl.

4. Next Board Meeting:

Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at 7:00 pm.
