Meeting Minutes
Minutes of the SIAP Board meeting No. 49 and
members general meeting.
Date: July 8, 2004, 6:30pm
Location: Colorado Center Community Room
Items proposed and discussed:
1- Kamal Ramezani expressed his concern for lack of incentive for SIAP members
to renew their memberships. He suggested SIAP to provide members with
professional related information and services to attract new members.
2- Iraj Yamin stated that active SIAP members to bring practical proposals on
the table to improve image of SIAP.
3- Ashraf Hemati emphasized on services to generate works for members.
4- Sima Haghighi said that each of SIAP members should participate in creating professional
relationship within the SIAP by introducing their field of specialties.
5- Bijan Armandpour talked about the idea of "SIAP young Club" and
"SIAP seniors club" and commitment to higher standards in our
profession.
6- Iraj Yamin stated that SIAP has passed it's 6th year. For 2 to 3 year
it look energetic and attractive. Since then appeared more surviving rather than
energizing. He proposed:
- A task force to study and propose ways to present quality architectural works
to Persian community and other communities as well. To establish
"AXIS" for quality standards.
- Good works and projects to be recognized and an established quality trend to
be promoted to attract more members.
7- Mohammad Gharavi stated that SIAP was established on the idea of a cultural
professional organization to share information and expand friendship.
8- Ali amani suggested a rotation of SIAP event locations with the City of L.A.
in order to share events with various public participants.
9- Keyvan Fotohi emphasized on quality lectures in SIAP events to attract young
professionals. He said each participating lecturer should prepare a
summary of his speech to be featured in SIAP web site.
10- Bijan Armandpour feels individual commitment is required to promote SIAP. Do
not ask what you get from SIAP. Since we are a young organization.
11- Mohammad R. Borghei believes many members are committed to contribute while
learning from each other through each event. He thinks committees should
regroup again.
12- Kemal Ramezani re-stated he feels a communication link among members should
be created for sharing each others experiences and important information.
13- There were some discussion regarding "Beverly Hills" architecture,
lighting design in architecture, e-mail communications among
SIAP members and architectural competitions to be organized by SIAP.
These issues need to be reviewed and discussed by SIAP Board members to find
ways for implementations.
