The followings are the minutes of the SIAP Board of Director's Emergency meeting:

Agenda:

1- Bam Earthquake 3- Public Meetings in 2004

2- No-Ruz Party 4- January 2004 Public Meeting

MRB chaired the meeting and allocated time to the Agenda items. M. M volunteered to prepare the minutes:

Prior to Agenda:

A concern was raised regarding SIAP taxes. SH will report the next meeting.

1-Bam Earthquake:

Hashem reported about his contacts with Pacific Art Center (PAC) regarding our emergency event on Sat. 1/10/04. PAC offered its assembly room and notification to its list of e-mail addresses. There will be a nominal cost of, $100.^{00 to cover the very basic costs.}

After some discussion, and due to the need for a quick decision, Board made decisions about the following:

1.1- The event to be scheduled for Sat. 1/10/2004 between 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

1.2- Notification to public and SIAP list to go out ASAP and possibly by the next day.

1.3- IYE to contact TV, M.M. to contact KIRN 670 AM and send out the flyer to SIAP mailing list to include the following content.

1.3.1-The title of the event is the Role of “Architects” in minimizing the ^{causalities of the earthquake.}

1.3.2-This is a Fund-Raising event.

1.3.3-Int. Red Cross & SIAP to receive the donations for distribution.

1.4- MM to conduct the event (MRB Suggested) as Per the following guidelines:

1.4.1-Introduction of SIAP including its mission and vision.

1.4.2-News related to involvement of “Architects and Planners” in Bam ^Earthquake.

1.4.3-Repeat Fund-Raising announcement throughout the event.

1.4.4-Iraj to show slides from Bam and Arg-e-Bam (before and after recent ^earthquake).

1.4.5-Role of the “Architects and Planners” in short and long term.

1.4.6-Role of the other building professionals (I.E Ifa Kashefi, structural

engineer is available to talk about the safety measures in the

traditional and the new buildings in Iran.

1.4- A briefing of the event to be published as the report of the meeting.

1.5- Follow the issue on a later date thru a panel of experts, or similar methods, to address the roots of the problem and provide relevant solutions. Announce the result thru public media as well.

2-Noruz Party

AH reported about the progress. But due to the lack of details, decisions will be made later.

A brief discussion covered several areas such as:

3.1- Meetings should have structure and a conductor.

3.2- Include Field trips as well as lectures.

3.3- Topics should consider interest of all principal members and the affiliates.

3.4- Topics to attract the general public as well as building professionals.

Decision will be made in the next meeting.

1-After giving a consideration to have Manochehr Eslami as our speaker of the meeting and lack of confirmed location, a field trip to M.O.C.A on Sat. 24, 2004 to view the study models of the Disney Concert Hall project by Frank O. Gehry was agreed upon. Board will discuss the details in the next meeting after the 1/10/2004 event.
